Week Eleven: Update

Hello!

Thanks for stopping by. Here is what Elder Myler has to say for this week!

To Mom:
Hi Mom!
it good to hear that torrin is gonna be home soon, try not to think about me too much i will be home very soon, time here is flying by and i am close to completing three months in the mission so it wont be that long. I am so proud the Xmas party went well, i was also excited to see my plaque it is weird seeing that picture of me becasue i look very young. I actually havent received either package yet do. It is possible the package have been lost. I dont know much about mail here so be careful when you send packages. I hope Marcus is doing good, hopefully he enjoys being back in theatre and finds some new friends. I still dont know what the plan is for Xmas, so for now just keep your schedule fairly open from the 24 to the 26 i will be sure to do everything i can to let you guys know when i will be calling so you can be ready. I miss you a lot and look forward to seeing and hearing you
Con Amor Elder Myler

To Dad:
thanks for sending the picture dad, it is funny i look so young in that picture, i dont have more photos to send but i will try and get some new ones to send soon. thanks for sending that message from president Monson, you would be surprised how lost i feel sometimes. Missonary work defidently isnt the easiest thing i have done and it all feels a bit overwhelming at times. but i know this is where i am suppose to be and that tough times in life help make us stronger and make the good times even better, i love you dad and thank you for all the support, i feel like i am home just a little bit when i get to read your emails every week. Its not too long till Xmas so i will be working hard and looking forward to talking to you, mom, and marcus (Jetter too)
Con amor Elder Myler

To Chelsey:
haha dont worry about the short email Chelsey! I am very busy too and probably couldnt write much at the end day here, I dont have any new photos this week ( sorry) but will try get more soon, the seasons here are a little different so we are going into the warm season, it has been pretty hot, it still hasnt rained but that is ok with me, they say the streets can get flooded if it rains too much. being in the Chrismas season means i am thinking about you and everyone else in the family, but i am thinking about Jesus too and his life here on earth. I need his help here in ecuador more than i ever did back at home so it makes me happy to know how much love he has for me and that he has felt what i have felt and that if he can do so much for us all. i can do a little for him here and help others accept his gosple. I am so thankful for this chance to be and i am so thankful for you support.
Con amor Elder Myler

That is all for this week! Thanks!

With love,
Chelsey

Week Ten: Update with Pictures

Hello Everyone!

Another week has gone by and we pleased to hear from Elder Myler. I know my family is getting pretty anxious to talk to him on Christmas!

To Mom:
Hi mom! i hope thanksgiving was a good one i had a pretty good thanksgiving too, i actually got to eat a thanksgiving dinner with some member in our ward here. it was super great adn i got to tell them how thankful i am for my family, it has been another great moment on my mission and has helped me to better understand why holidays are actually so important.  before the mission i got  caught up in all the traditions of holidays and never thought much about the opportunity i had to be with my family, the mission has taught me so many things about life and what is actually important to me. all of this is going to help me prepare for christmas and the next year. I will be thinking about  you a lot this holiday season and i take comfort in knowing this is only one of two holiday season i will be away from home. i am trying to save up some stories for xmas so be sure to  have some as well. I love you mom and miss you every day but  this desire to be home beome a desire to work hard when i think about all the things God has done for me, so when you think about me this holiday season think about Christ too and what he and God do for you every day. Give jetter another couple of pats on the back for me and tell everyone i say hi
Con amor Elder Myler

To Dad:
Hey dad! its good to hear about thanksgiving i actually had a thanksgiving dinner too! it wasnt quite the same but it was still very good.   i have been working vary hard and actually had another two baptisms which is very exciting. Elder Rojas and i dont have any investigators with baptism dates now but we will keep up our good work. i am very excited to be going into the holiday season, and i cant wait to talk with you, mom, and marcus
Con amor Elder Myler

To G-Ma (Darlene Wallace):
Hi Gma! i am sorry i couldnt send this on your Birth day......but Happy birthday! thanksgiving always reminds me of you and how hard you work on the amazing dinner we eat every year. i miss not being home to eat with you and every one else but i dont mind because it is only one of two thanksgivings i will miss. I am so thankful you have been a major part of my life and helped me during my short 20 years on this earth i know you have been with me the whole time and are with me know. Missing my family is one of the biggest challenges i have on the mission and this includes you! when i feel down i know i can turn to the Lord for help and he has given me many thing to help me with my homesickness. keep up your faith in Christ and keep him in your heart during the Christmas season!  I hope you will be around for my telephone call on Chrismas.
Con Amor your grandson Elder Myler

To Chelsey:
Hey chelsey! you are right people dont celabrate Thanksgiving in ecuador. But one of the members in our ward lived in Utah for several years and had a thanksgiving dinner at his house, he invited the missonaries over so i actually did get to have thanksgiving dinner. it wasnt quite the same but it was very nice for me. Everyone shared what they were thankful for before we ate and i said that i was thankful for my family and the chance to serve a mission. it was a very good day. i also had another two baptisms this week! I actually got to do the baptisms this time so it was ve ry excting. so i have some more pictures to share. i am excited for the christmas season as well. a lot of people allready have their lights up and everyone has their trees ready so i am looking forward to talking to mom and dad ( and maybe you as well, i dont know what my xmas day will be like but i will be sure to  keep you updated to my plans) i liked what you said about thinking about Christ during the holiday season,  i think this will be a christmas season i will never for get because i have been given a great gift, and  that gift is the opportunity to be closer to Christ than i have ever been before. I love  you chelsey and your email always help me feel the spirity and have a desire to work harder
Con mucho amor Elder Myler

We love receiving pictures from Elder Myler! Looks like he is having a good time. We are so proud of him. He is bringing the knowledge we have of Jesus Christ to those who are willing to listen. This is truly a wonderful thing. I testify that Christ lives and loves each of us. I also know that Heavenly Father lives and is very aware of our individual situations. We are His children and He loves us. Keep up the good work Elder Myler.

Thanks for reading.

Week Nine: Thanksgiving

Hi!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here is what Elder Myler has to say this week. We are always so happy to hear from him!

To Mom:
hey mom, so my money situation is pretty much normal, we get 100 dollars every two weeks and we actually bought food for the week last monday, so everything is just fine in that resepect, so pretty much all the food here is different when it comes to snacks, nothing is the same besides things like oreos and other very popoular products, so anything you send will be awsome, I am always finding differnent things i need to adjust to, it is hard sometimes getting along with the other elders in the house (and it dosent help that i dont know much spanish) but everyone says your first area is one of the hardest so i know i just gotta hang in there for a while, thanks for the update it is always nice to have a little slice of home every week.
Love Elder Myler

To Dad:
hey dad, i do get your emails everyweek so dont worry about that. i had a lot of emails last week and lost track of the time. so sorry about that. thanks for the message dad it relly helps. it isnt easy to feel the spirit right now, i am always a little stressed because i cant understand much during a lesson, but it dose get a little easier everyday. my companion and i had our first baptism this staurday and it was super cool. it wasnt very exstravagent but it was very spiritual we are going to celabrate with teh family tonight so i am excited for that. plus we have two other investigators who could get baptised this weekend if everything goes well so that is good. i am still trying to cope with all the stresses and challenged of the mission its is very hard, deflidently ther hardest thing i have done in my life so far, but that will just make everything else in life that much easier in the future.

To Myler Grandparents (Fred & Brenda):
hey thanks for the email, the whole washing my clothing is just garments becuse we cant let non members wash those so its not all that bad. its still hasent rained here but we will be in the rainy season soon so i am trying to enjoy the weather as it is now. thank you for your prayers, it is still very hard to get by without knowing much of the language but i have lots of time to practice so i will be better at it soon. love hearing from you both and i am still thankful for the support
Love Elder Myler

Elder Myler sent a lot of pictures this week, so if you haven't seen those check out my previous post!

Thanks so much!

With love,
Chelsey

Week 9: Lots of Pictures!

I assume this is at their apartment. I think his companion's name is Elder Rojas

District at CCM

me with my district and our teacher at the ccm (pretty old but this is the firt opportunity i have to send them)

Elder Myler and Elder Walker (companion) with their teacher at the CCM

hey so this piture has a story to go along with it, so the dogs here in ecuador can be pretty mean sometimes ( lots of people have guard dogs) and one of the familes we teach has two big dogs, when we were leaving i made it outside but my companion didnt so we had to wait for the owners to distract the dogs. also there are a ton of stray dogs in the streets they usually leave us alone though so it isnt so bad. there are actually a lot of dogs that remind me of Jetter dog which is tough but i manage.

Week Eight: 2 Months Down!

Hello!

Elder Myler didn't give us a ton of info this week. He only sent 2 emails home, which we thought was a little odd. He also isn't giving us a ton of detail. But then again, he is a 20-year-old guy that just doesn't have time for detail. :)

To Mom:
haha there are lots of small details that i dont have time to cover but i will try  my best. Yes we do eat with the memebers almost everyday, and that is usually the one meal we actually eat. the past couple of pdays we havent gotten food for ourselvs so yeah its usually just lunch, but in ecuador lunch is like dinner so we eat a ton and it is usually a late lunch, it isnt as bad as it sounds and we usually buy snacks to keep us happy. the reason i wash  my clothing is because it is exspenive to have some one else do it and we cant let non memebers whash garments, but my companion tells me it is different in other areas. the mission d osent like us getting packages over 10 pounds and it is very exspensive to send packages so i dont know what to say about that, i will keep you posted.
love you always Elder Myler

Mom and I were concerned with the "lunch is the one meal we actually eat"... Um, Elder Myler you need to eat! Silly boy.

To Chelsey:
hi chelsey, yes my week was better lots of ups and downs but so long as i have a desire to serve and work hard it dosent matter what happens during the week. i always remind my self that difficulties help me to grow. regarding work on sundays, we go out and track and teach lessons after sunday so we work on sundays, i know it is something you are not use to and i know it must be hard not takeing the sacrament but dont forget that helping people make us more like Jesus and that when we are in the service of man we are in the service of god, so try and make the best of your situation and stay faithful,
love elder myler

That is it for this week. Sorry it is short. I guess there isn't a whole lot to say? Or Elder Myler was too busy to send long emails this week. Who knows.

Until next week, thanks for reading!

With love,
Chelsey

Week Seven: Big Adjustment

Hello People!

Thanks for stopping by Elder Myler's blog. He has been in Ecuador for almost two weeks and the adjustments have begun. Big changes and challenges are at the forefront but we believe Elder Myler is coping well. He just needs time to get more comfortable with his new surroundings and the language of Spanish. Here is what he says for this week...

To Mom:
Hi mom! its good to hear about you and brody (Baby born on the Brown side of the family. Brody is Barbara's cousin DJ and wife Kristi's first born. So very exciting!). You might be thinking about thanksgiving but the only holiday i can think about is Christmas, i am very excited to hear form you dad, marcus and jetter. the weather isnt as bad as everyone says it is, we generally work in the afternoon and evening so everything is pretty cool. there isnt much humitiy where i am (people say we are two hours from the beach) so its hot but not all that bad. I miss everyone and everyting a lot more now that i am in the feild, life at the MTC was cake compared to here so it has been a tough adjustment. Elder Rojas has been a great companion so i am very busy. I had a very interesting exspericne today. I had to wash my cloting by hand and it was very humbling. It also reminded me how much of a blessing you have always been in my life. I always took the little things in life for grante ( including laundry) so i have developed a ton of love for my family. I love you more than i have ever in my life and i miss you a lot. I know God put me here for a reason and wants me to grow while i am here. I love you so much and wish i could have done more for you while i was home. give jetter a pat on the back for me. Xmas is just around the corner so it wont be too long before we can talk Your Son Elder Myler

To Dad:
haha its good to hear nothing changed in the ward (My parents' stake needed to split several wards to make a couple new wards but they were not affected), I have a funny story about the bday package. i got it the last day at the MTC so all my bags were packed. me and my companion weighed our bags to make sure they were not overweight and both of my bags were very close to the max weight. so when i got all that food i was worried i would put my bags overweight, so me and my district ate a lot of it that day. my bags were within the weight limit and i still have some of the food from home witch is a great comfort. This week was pretty tough, lots of hard work, listening to spanish and trying to know what everyone is saying is draning and my biggest struggle right now. but everyone tells me this part of the mission is the hardest so i am optimistic. I too take comfort from the spirit. i didnt miss home all that much at the mtc because there life was super easy, but here life is not easy and it is easy to miss home, i try to keep my thought on my work and but everyting else behind me but because i dont understand the spaish it is very hard. But when i have the spirity all my worries are gone and i do better. Thanks for writing and keeping me updated.
Your Son Elder Myler

To Chelsey:
Hi chelsey! everything here is different but good. My companion is from chilie and dosent speek any english. He has like 12 weeks left on the mission so he is very good and exsperienced, but he is defidently thinking of home ( he waves to the planes that pass overhead :) ) he is a great companion and we work very hard. We live in an apartment with two other elders, one is from Salt Lake so i he helps me a lot with spanish and gives me a break from all the spanish. It is a nice place to stay and everything here is pretty good.....different ( it would take days to exsplain it all) my spanish is improving, i have taught small parts of lession but thats about it. It is very hard to focous on a conversation when there are lots of distrations. I get time to study the language so i know i will be better soon. Knowing i am a child of God helps me everyday as a missionary. It feels like every day i find tons of things i need help with and i have prayed for help a coulple of times while tracting  and after i pray i always feel better even if we dont have much sucess. Thanks for writing and hope to hear from you soon
Love Elder Myler

To Myler Grandparents (Fred & Brenda):
Thanks, i got the package and the elders in my house helped me celebrate my b day, it was my first real day in the feild and i had a great time talking with everyone in the neiborhood. I only had my first companion for two days but my new companion is great too. i am working hard and i am enjoying what little time i have here in Ecuador.
Thank you so much for the card! I difidently had a very happy birthday and you helped out with that. I am still adjusting to Missonary life. Spanish is very difficuly and life is very different. But everyone says the beginning of the mission is the hardest so I take comfort in knowing things will get better soon. Thanks for everything you do and keep checking the blog for details.
Love Elder Myler

So Elder Myler is struggling just a bit but that is expected with the new language and new country. We appreciate all prayers sent his way. We know Elder Myler is capable of overcoming difficult times and look forward to hearing from him next week.

Thanks for reading and supporting!

With love,
Chelsey

Week Six: Arrival in Ecuador!

Hello All!

Elder Myler has arrived in Ecuador. We are thrilled that he is safe and happy. This is the email we received from his mission president:

Dear Family of Elder Myler,

We are so happy to have your son, Elder Myler, in the Ecuador Guayaquil West Mission.  Please know that he arrived safely and is now with his trainer in his assigned area. We are sending three pictures that were taken of him: one with us,  one with his companion, and one with the group (Davin ended up with a new companion so they did not include that picture).  We are so grateful that your son was chosen to serve with us in this mission at this time.  We know he will be a great asset to the work of the Lord in this part of His vineyard.

Thank you for the sacrifice, hard work, teaching and training that you have provided to your son throughout his life that makes it possible for him to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church with the marvelous people of Ecuador.  Please continue to encourage him, and remember that positive and uplifting messages from home reassure all missionaries that the Lord is blessing those they left behind.  Missionaries always look forward to news from home, including messages of faith, uplifting experiences, and positive thoughts, which strengthen and encourage them.  Such messages help them successfully confront the challenges of each day and enable them to keep focused on their missionary work and not worry about their families.  Your son will be able to e-mail you each Monday and we know he will look forward to weekly e-mails from home.

You may see pictures and read bits of information about what is happening in our mission at www.guayaquilwestmission.blogspot.com.  Please be patient with us.  Beginning a new mission is very time-consuming and so for a time it might take awhile to get the blog up to date.  To send letters and packages the address is: Ecuador Guayaquil West Mission; Casilla de Correo 09-04-206; Guayaquil, Guayas; Ecuador.  You may also use the pouch instructions in the call packet.   Please disregard the mission address in the call packet as that was our home address in Bountiful, Utah. They are in the process of correcting that.  Be sure any packages you send weigh less than four pounds and use the green mailing sticker (instead of the white one) to avoid customs charges here.

We also are putting in place a Facebook group where you will be able to see pictures of the mission, although only our returned missionaries can join the group. The purpose of the blog is for our returned missionaries to be able to stay in contact with and strengthen each other after their missions. The link is on the right-hand side of our blog.

We pray the richest blessings of the Lord will be with you, your family, and your son as he serves diligently here with us.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail.  The mission office phone number is 011-593-4-213-6711 and the e-mail address is 1921037@ldschurch.org.

Thank you for all the love and support you will give your son as he serves this mission. We know the Lord will bless you greatly for that and for the service your son will render to His children here in Ecuador. We are very grateful for the privilege of serving the Lord with him.

Sincerely,

Pres. Jorge Dennis
Sis. Anette Dennis

As you can see, his mission president & wife are awesome!! Here are the pictures they sent us:

Elder Myler is in the very back and to the right. All you can see is his cute little head!

As always, here is what Elder Myler sent us this week:

Well its offical i am in ecuador, It has been quite and exsperience getting here and i can hardly comprehend what has happened because so much has happened so quickly. But i will start from the beginning. Me and seven other missonaries left the MTC at eight thirity at night on wendsday. Our plane left mexico city at one in the morning and touched down in Bogata Columbia at around ten. we had an hour lay over there and were in the air for ecuador at eleven. we met a bunch of missonaries from columbia at the airport there and flew with them. We touched down in Ecuador at about One in the after noon on thursday November 1st. the prisedent of the mission his two assistance and the mission secratary picked us up and took us by bus to the president´s house. we spent several hours there getting some orantaion and had lunch. we took some pictures and then took a bus to the temple in Guy. there we stayed at the housing near the temple and met our companions. My companion was Elder Saaverla, he was from Chilie and spoke a lot of english. after a few hours at the temple housing i took a taxi to my new home. i unpacked and prepared for my first day in the mission. The next day i went to a district meeting and started tracting. it was wery hard because we started our fast at lunch and could not drink water. i was very tired by the end of the day but me and my companion got two dates for baptisms. the next day was sunday. Church was very different but i did manage to get up and bear my testimony in spanish. we ate finish our fast and ate lunch at a members home (lunch is the biggest and most importat meal in Ecuador) we then continued to track. We found a little boy and her grand mother and taught them for about thirity minuits and invited them to get bapitsed and they said yes. After that we helped some members of the ward give blessing to an investigating family and went to a ward activity. the activity was a movie. we finally got home and got a call that my companion was going to transfer the next day. We were both super angry and sad. we got up early the next day (today) and took him to the bus terminals and i said good bye to my companion, i met my new companion Elder Rojas and we went home so he could put his stuff in the house. we then started our p day (preparation day) and went down town. we visited a park full of iguanas and did some shopping. now we are in a internet cafe writing emails, and thats my mission so far.

To Chelsey (I was complaining about fasting. I'm a bad sister!):
Haha i also dont enjoy fasting but for other reasons, but the best part is after you have completed the fast in faith you can have a small prize for the effort. I dont know how correct that is docterinally but i think it will help you. I will send a huge email to mom with all the details of the trip so hopefully she can send it to you and to the blog. I dont know if i have the ability to send pictures but i will try next week. Hope you and travis are going well and are staying faithful
Love Elder Myler

To Travis (brother-in-law):
Thank you for the advice, the mission here is a walking one so it dosent take long for me to be very tired. I will always try to think about just one more thing i can do everyday to be a better missonary. The language is a huge barrier for me right now and i can hardly understand a word people are saying, so i need to work my very hard right now, Thanks again for the message and i hope you and Chelsey are working hard too. With work and with the gosple Love you both and miss you guys too
Love Elder Myler

I didn't get any other responses from family/friends. So, that's it for this week!

Thanks for reading and supporting.

With love,
Chelsey

Week Five: Headed to Ecuador

Hello Everyone!

This is a very exciting week for Elder Myler. He is heading to Ecuador late Thursday (10/31/13) night! We are so excited for him. Also, his birthday is this week! So if you want to tell him Happy Birthday go ahead and send him an email! davin.myler@myldsmail.net --His birthday is Saturday (11/2/13) and he will be the big 2-0! 20!

To Mom:
It is great to her fom you mom! its nice to get updates every week. It has been kind of crazy here at the MTC I just learned about the change to my departue yesterday, i will try my best to get that package and save you guys the stress, i dobt they leave package sitting at the mail office, they will either forward it to me in Ecuador or send it back. I hope i can just get it tomorrow but who knows. I also dont know much about my trip to ecuador, I think we leave the MTC thursday night and fly to Ecuador in the early morning so if ther is a chance for a phone call it will be late at night or early in the morning. I am pretty sure i will be useing this same e mail for the entire mission but i will keep you all updated. you will be happy to hear that there are rumors we may get to Skype for the holidays so thats exciting. My testimony has grown a lot in this short month and it will continue to grow in the comeing months, i hope your is as well, i want to bless as many people through the gosple as i can and that includes you mom! Pray as much as you can (even pray for the package because i am!) and i know God will bless you. I love you so much and miss you a lot
Love Elder Myler (Your baby)

To Dad:
Its good to hear everything is going good. I just learned yester day that i actually leave late thursday night. so i lost a couple of days here but it just means i will be in Ecuador soon. I hope you guys dont need to re re send the package because i leave early. I dont know what the CCM will do if they receive a package of an elder who has allready left but i will try and find out. This new departure time also means i know almost nothing about my trip, I have been told we leave thursday night at 10:00 and the plane leaves at 1:00 so if there is a phone call it will be early in the morning. Its good to hear marcus and mom are getting along. I bet the house is pretty interesting with all the haunted house stuff. Its good that the priest use PMG it will be a huge benifit to them. Its good to hear your missonary work is going so well also, Its great to hear you have been able to share part of the gosple with you co workers. Keep up the good work Dad i am so proud of you exsample, and i am proud to be your son. Thanks for the update and hopefully i will be that package soon, the next time you hear from me will be in Ecuador and i am so excited! I love you so much and miss you a lot
Love Elder Myler

To Chelsey:
yes Utchdorf never dissapoints and neither do you! I Think doubt is one of the biggest thiongs to overcome for a missionary. My district had an interesting exsperince this week. There is a class here called TRC where voulenteers (members and non memebers) get taught by the missonaries, two non member voulunteers came to our room by mistake and we got to teach them the fist lession. They asked some very interesting and difficult questions, i bore my testimony that even though i dont know why God dose the things he dose I know he is perfect and that i should never doubt a perfect being. You are right about my testimony of the gosple growing and i will stop my spiritual growth, i bet you would have been a great missonary the sistes in my district remind me of you, but the lord did bless you because of your faith and he still exspects you to share the gosple. It is easy for me to share the gosple because i am devoting my life to it. Members who are not full time missonraies have their own challenges to over come. Never forget Every member a missonary! I know you will be very busy now because of your new job but dont forget to share the gosple with anyone who will hear it. Let me know what you think of your new job and try to have one missonary exsperience to share with me this time next month! I will be in Ecuador very soon (i actually leave this thursday) so I will have plenty to share with you. I love you and Travis a lot and have found a ton of spiritual strengh in your emails to me
Your Brother and Missonary Elder Myler

To Myler Grandparents (Fred & Brenda):
thanks for the story! it is crazy how fast my time has gone by at the mtc. we leave a litte earlier than we exspected so i will be leaving thursday night. I dont know if my package will be in on time but i hope it gets here soon. family is such an important part of the gosple and i love my family more than ever now. it is the same love i will be developing for my investigators. I love you both so much and thank you for the support you give me, you have made my mission possible and i will never be able to repay you for that. so thank you so much, send my love to everyone in flagstaff
Love Elder Myler

Also, Elder Myler sent some very exciting pictures this week! Please check them out in my previous blog post. Thanks for supporting Elder Myler!!

ANNOUNCEMENT from Elder Myler!!!
hey i found out there is a blog fom my mission www.guayaquilwestmission.blogspot.com.)be sure to check it after in early November and you will probably find me there!and add the adress to the blog so everyone can see it

To Mom:
Its so good to hear from you sounds like you and I will be plenty busy but thats ok time flys when we work hard. we had one of the elders in our district go home because he was só sick, it was very difficult for all of us to send him home and it helped me appreciate my opportunity to serve. My spanish is getting better but there is a lot to lern, there are irregular verbs that just break all the rules of spanish so things are very confusing sometimes. we also are getting into the past and future tense of words and that is pretty hard to. I know I will be ok in the end but things are very hard. My strengh in the golsple is also getting better, my faith is strongetr than it has ever been and it is great to see Gods hand in my life, try and find ways God has blessed your life too and i know you will develope a greater testimony of his love for you. CCM life is staring to feel like school so i  cant wait to be out in the feild, I only get another 23 months of this wonderful life style so i will be chershing every second of it. The Elder whose companion went home has become my new companion and he remindes me of marcus, he is very funny and kind of crazy sometimes. We are all donig well here and love it here, our district checks the mail like three times a day and it is always a laught when they find our mail box empty. The cafiteria food is pretty good and they have started serving more amerian style food, it is a blessing and a curse because i was hopeing to get use to different types of food before my time in the feild, the guys in my district going to Ecuador call the CCM a resort because it is so nice compared to what it will be like in Ecuador. One of the sister in our Distict has family in Ecuador and here parents are form there so we get to hear a bunch of stories about it. She tells us the people are very friendly and the members are generious to the missonaries so i will  be in good hands. we have Two teachers now, one in the morning and one in the after noon. Our afternoon teacher is super cool his name is Hermano Arevalo, he is from mexico and is trying to learn English, so we get to help him with engligh while he helps us with spanish. He call us all Gurreros wich is Warrior is spanish, so that is pretty cool. When we are taugh a new grammar rule or phrase he taker us out onto the campus to practice with some of the local workers at the CCM, they are always nice to us but i have trouble understanding them. We all have a good time learning. The house we lived in use to be pretty empty but now all of the new missonaries have filled up the house. It is crazy to think i am a veteran here now. it feels like almost no time has gone by. I gave a talk this last sunday in spanglish it was only five minuits but it felt like forever. I am learning so much here and am excited to begin the work of the Lord. I hope you and marcus are getting along as Halloween closes in. Dad told me he is still getting paied so thats good. I miss you all (including Jetter) and always keep you in my prayers, thank you so much for keeping me in your prayers too, i can feel your love for me everyday and that helps me get though the days. Mom i miss you a ton but i know these two years will feel like the blink of an eye when i get back. cant wait to see you all.
Love your Missonary Elder Myler

To Dad:
It good to hear Congress actuall did something for once and i am happy to hear everything is going so well. I hope mom and Marcus have been getting along. Speaking in spanish gets tougher everyday, i can do ok in a gosple lesson but besides that its is very tough, there are so many rules and form to memorize that it feel like i need to memorize half the language. but i learn something everyday and I have no dobt I will be able to master the language soon.

As for the priest's question i could go on for days about things they could and should know to prepare for their mission. But i think i can summarise it into one Gosple principle and that is the Holy Ghost. Missonaries are nothing with out the testimony of the Holy Ghost and no one would be converted without the help of the Holy Ghost. the HG is the only reason i have felt any sort of sucess and it is the best tool in a missonary's life for conversion. So if a priest wants to be better perpared for his mission he should live in a way that invites the HG into his life. If he dose not do that he will have to learn that life style while on his mission and that wont be easy. No body should exspect their life to do a complete 180 degree turn over night, life dose not work that way. So tell the priest to keep the HG in their lives and follow the promptings of the HG. Try and find a conference talk or MTC devotal on the subject (MTC devotnals are super good espeshally if Elder Holland is taking ) Doing this early will be a huge blessing in their lives.

I so glad to hear everything is going so well, time here is all staring to belnd to gether so i am excited to be in the feild. I love you all so very much and keep you in my prayers.
Love ELder Myler

To Chelsey:
Muchas gracias hermana! Me gusta mi tiempo en la CCM, me espanol es mas o meso pero yo tengo muy muy oportunidad por pratice. My spanish is still pretty rough, i now how to say a lot of things about the gosple in spanish but besides that my vocab and grammar is a little lacking. But thats ok i have plenty of time to improve. The biggest thing i have lerned at the CCM is that I must become my first convert. we watched a Tuesday night devotonal from Elder Holland and he said that if i want an investigator to do someting like pray more of read the scriptures more God wants me to do those things. So i am learning how to convert myself before i convert others. It has been wonderful putting all my trust into the Lord and seeing his hand in my life. I never knew how much the Lord blessed my life untill i got here. I am trying to learn as much as i have gotten use to CCM life and it is starting to feel a bit like school. I will try and make everyday unique but it is hard when i am on a tight schedule. Hope things are going well in Texas, i read you have started your new job so good luck with that. I know you will do great. Say hi to travis for me.
Love ELder Myler

So per usual, Elder Myler is doing awesome and that is what we like to hear! We love him and are just so happy that he is serving a mission for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Week Three: Spanish

Hello Everyone!

This week Elder Myler finally got to send us some pictures! The pictures are rather random but that's Davin for you. He mentions speaking exclusively in Spanish this week! We also found out he will leave for Ecuador on his birthday, Nov. 2! What a birthday present. :) We are so thrilled for him!

To Mom:
its sound like you guys are doing ok without me so to answer your questions
1. my back is fine, i have had no trouble so far i think there is something up with my bed at home
2. My bed is fine, we actually have sheets provided at the MTC so i wont be useing the sheet untill i get in the feild
3. laundry is easy not much to it, the iorns at the MTC are not all that good so i have been hanging up shirts right out of the dryer but besides that not problems
4. Yes mom i am keeping my area tidy. we dont have a ton of room to begin with so it would be difficult to be messy with four other guys in the room.

I know you and marcus dont always agree but take some comfort in knowing that you love each other, your personalities are very strong and dont always mix well.
I just sent some pictiures to chelsey and will try and send more soon but i dont have much time to take pictures
I am happy jetter is ok, i know he will be just fine its good he is acutally chaseing cats now. I hope the package arrives a little early......My departure to Ecuador is on my birthday. so hopefully that all works out ok. I love you so much and i am happy to hear that everyone is doing allrigt.
Love Elder Myler
Leave it to Davin to be candid and straight to the point. Got to love the boy.

To Dad:
Hi dad. I am doing great, my spanish is imporving (we will be speaking only spanish tomorrow) I have replied to all my emails so far so dont worry about that. I have plenty of time on p-day to email. To answer your question about PMG yes yes and yes! i use PMG everyday and would be lost with out it. It is so helpful for me as a missonary and for an investigator (our teachers play investigators and we teach them every week) it would be 100 times more difficult if i didnt have PMG. That book may not look like much from an outsiders perspective, but for missonaries it is gold. It is a great tool for me and every missonary.  Have the priests teach lessons in quorm useing PMG. There are plenty of things they could use for a lesson.

Hope everything is going ok at home sounds like you have your hands full keeping the peace between Mom and Marcus. I just sent pictures to chelsey so be sure to check the blog for some picts. I hope everything works out at work, i know Congress will eventuall make a budget and everything will be ok. I love you and miss you a lot.
Your Missonary Elder Myler
PMG is short for Preach My Gospel. It is a guideline for the missionaries to use in order to teach investigators about the Church. From what I understand, the missionaries utilize this book a lot!

To Marcus (brother):
HI Marcus, it is great to hear from you! sounds like things are going allright, i can tell you form exsperience that work isnt that much fun some of the times but you will get use to it (but paychecks help too) try to not get caught up in the stress of work and it will all work out. work hard in school no matter how silly it may seem now. i know your getting good grades so keep up your hard work, just remember doing boring classes now will leave room for the cool stuff when your at a university. I am so stoked your doing a haunted house! keep me updated on your progress becuase it sounds like it will be super cool. say hi to jetter for me, i miss being upstairs and i miss my two favorite brothers(you and jetter).  sound like you are pretty busy so i wouldnt worry about the viedogames too much, just dont stay up too late playing league. let me know how the youtube channel is comeing along. I love you a lot and miss you a ton.
Love Elder Myler

To Chelsey:
Hi chelsey! so i some pictures to send and i think i will just send them (so i dont spend too much time uploading and sending pictures) so hopefully they can go on the blog for everyone to see. Our emails can only have so much attached to them so it will probably only be one or two pictures per email. I am excited that you are giving a talk and would love too see it. I love what you said about the priesthood and it being correct because it comes from God. The sister missonaries in my dirstrict remind me of you because they are so hardworking and know so much about the gosple.

To Myler Grandparents (Fred & Brenda):
Hi, thanks for the email. it is great to hear from you guys. Here at the MTC we got to watch the confrence in a auditorium. it was super cool and i got a lot out of it. There is a little viedo of the Mexico MTC in the october 2013 world report (it plays after confrence) try and look it up so you can see what the MTC looks like. Tell Katerina thank you for the words of encouragement and that i love her. It cool that LeRoy won that car show. I miss you guys a lot. I love you both so much and cant thank you enough for your support. I am here because of you guys and I am very thankful for that. i love you guys so much.
Love Elder Myler

Thank you for the update I am sure i will be taken care of in Ecuador. I hope i can have the same impact on families when i am out in the feild. I cant wait to go out into the feild. I will be think of you guys a lot.
Love Elder Myler

Woo hoo! Another week in the MTC. Only 3 weeks left til the Elder leaves for Ecuador! Then, it's go time.

Thanks for reading!

Week 3: Pictures!

This is Elder Myler and his companion, Elder Walker!

Davin did not provide any explanations along with the pictures he sent me but I feel like the sprinklers were turned on in this picture. Not completely sure but it looks like they are having fun!

The beautiful Mexico City LDS Temple!

Again, not completely sure. Looks like a bunch of Elders hanging out on their Preparation Day. Preparation Day (or sometimes referred to as P Day) is the one day of the week when the missionaries get to enjoy free time, write home to family, take care of laundry and personal chores, etc. Not sure Elder Myler is featured in this pic!

I added in the designs. I thought they added to the pictures. :)

Thanks for supporting Elder Myler!

Week Two: General Conference

This week Elder Myler had enough time to email individuals. I will be posting the responses he gave to people. Elder Myler's responses may be slightly out of context since I will not be posting what individuals wrote to him. Hope you enjoy!

To Mom:
Hi mom, it is great to hear from you and everyone in the family. I am so happy to hear that you are doing well and that you have me in your heart. sond like things are busy at home, I hope marcus is doing ok. I know he dosent share much with you so help him as much as you can. I am excited for the haunted house! i havent been able to see the blog just yet but will try to get to computers that can do that. I cant believe the altima was in a wreck, i know marcus is fine but thats still a bit of a bummer. I hope he is doing well at his new job. In fact i hope you all are doing well at your jobs, i know it's not fun and can be a little stressful but dont worry to much about it, I can see the Lord's hand in your lives and i know he will take care of you guys while i am away. I am happy that you got to see the CCM (Capacion Central de Misionaros) it not spelled correctly here but that what we call it. Dont work too hard mom, we both have a lot to do in the next two years and we cant get caught up in the moment. I work hard and stay focoused on what i need to do and try not to think about how much i miss home (it is very hard sometmes) and i hope you can do the same. let Jetter know i love him and miss him too. I had tons of emails today so dont worry about saying i to anyone, and i am planning on writing a letter today too. Mom i love you so much and that love is hard to set aside for any amount of time. But i am doing what is right and will be blessing the lives of so many people, it is hard but get easier do accept my call every day. Two year will be the blink of an eye soon and it wont be too long untill i see you again. I love you and keep you in all my prayers.
Your Missonary Elder Myler

**Marcus was in a car accident. He was rear ended. He is fine and the other driver is fine. The car just needs a lot of work done.

To Dad:
Haha i was hoping you would see Valenzuela's talk, the guy in the picture probably wasnt me but mom dosent ned to know that. there is a little clip of the MTC in Mexico on the world report (It plays after confrence) you might be able to find it on the web somwhere. I love it here at the MTC it is a great place to be and i am learning a lot about the language and the gosple. It has been a little tough adjusting to life here but i am getting use to the schedule. I havent been to somesick so thats good, they keep us very busy. Thats awsome that you help stop that robber and i wish i could have helped with the winter grass. I miss everyone a lot and love you all so much. Time is flying by at the MTC so i will be home in no time. I did get my scriptues and the treats, thank mom for me. I took me a while to get them but i did. I love you all so much and am beginning to love my time here in the mission. I miss you all alot and love you all even more.
Your missonary Elder Myler

To Chelsey:
Haha, that picture defidently wasnt me, but mom dosent need to know that. I was blessed to be able to hear confrence in english and it was awsome. we were in the auditorium so it was on a huge screen and we had great seats. I took notes on almost every talk and loved all ten hours of confrence! I hope you and travis are doing well, i got an email form travis and it had a lot of good advice in it. I am thankful you keep me in your prayers. I know you are gonna do great at you new job and that the Lord will keep you all safe and sucessful so i can focous on my mission. i love you a lot and thank you for being a great exsample of what a true child of God should be. You have helped me so much in life it would take a very long time to fully thank you.
Love Elder Myler

To G-Ma (Grandma Wallace):
Hi G-ma thank you for the email. i am so happy that you are doing well and that you are helping my mom. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. Mexico city is super cool and i am having a great time. I got a little home sick now and them but for the most part i am pretty focoused. Learning spanish has been one of the hardest things i have done so far in life, but i learn somthing everyday. i miss you a lot and cant wait to see you again say hi to everyone for me and tell them i love them
love Elder Myler

To Travis (brother-in-law):
Thank you for the email Travis, one of our devotionals last week was on faith and that you dont look back on the past if you have faith. I have cried a little every time i read an email from home, and i have tear in my eyes now. But it is not because i miss home, it is because i can feel the spirit, you advice is great and i will keep it with me while i am on the Lord's mission. Thanks a ton for the email and i cant wait to hear from you again. Keep up the good work in you residency. You and Chelsey are hard workers and i know you guys will do great in your careers. I love you both so much
Elder Myler

Wow, seems like Elder Myler is doing great! We sure do love hearing from him each week. If you get a response from Davin and would like for it to show up on the blog, please email chelseyboud@hotmail.com.

Thanks for your support!

Week One: Life in the MTC

We found out that Elder Myler's preparation days will be on Tuesdays. Anyone who wants to email Elder Myler, I recommend doing so by Monday night because the only day he gets to read his email is on Tuesdays. His email is davin.myler@myldsmail.net

He mentions getting "word" that he received a package. He did not directly say that has been given the package yet. Hopefully they gave him the package on P day because his scriptures are in there! He NEEDS those!

Here is his letter:

Hi family! The MTC here in mexico is super cool. The weather here is just like flagstaff so it is always super nice. my companion Elder Walker arrived shortly after i did on the first day and we have been super busy. My schedule is just a lot of language classes and personal time. we do a lot of the learning on our own here but our teacher is a good teacher. we taught a mock investigator (played by a member) in spanish on our first day! our classes are arranged by district so i spend a lot of time with my district (eight elders and two sisters). We have bonded a ton in the short time we have been here. the MTC is a huge campus with classroom buildings a full auditorium a gym and even a some basket ball courts. The MTC is in the middle of Mexico City and has walls surroinding the campus. We start our day at 6:30 and end at 10:30 so everyday is fairly long. the exspression here is a day feels like a week and a week feels like a day. today (Tuesday) is our first prep day so exspect mail on tuesdays. My spaish a pretty much tripled so far and i still have so much to learn. So far i can say basic prayers in spanish put not much else. the house i live in have about 15 other elders in it. There are four people to a room and each room has a shower. It feels a little cramped but its not to bad. The food is ok as well, lots of mexican stuff but nothings has been bad yet so that keeps me thankful. My companion is from Washington and is super cool, he knows more spanish than i do and he helps me all the time. Everyone in my district is super cool and it would take forever to talk about them all. I miss you guys a lot but i stay focused and on track. I love you all so much and look forward to seeing you all again soon. We also got to go to the Mexico city Temple today for an endowment session. It was all in spanish but i kind of knew what was going on so it was ok. The MTC president told us the first five days are the hardest so i think i will be able to manage while in here. we dont get a ton of time to write letters, so exspect more email than letters. tell everyone i am doing ok and even forward the email if you want to. P day is also our only day to take pictues and we hear rumors people use a site called drop box to send pirctures so i will try and send some pitctures your guy's way.
Dad, i am so thankful for how awsome of a dad you are. You have been a great exsample to me as i have been growing up and I hope to be like you during my time as a missonary. I tried to exsplain your job as a probation officer to my teacher but it confused her, i love you so much and wish we could talk more
Mom, i love you so much, you are the person i miss the most. I try and control how homesick i get when i think about you, but i am so busy it is hard to mope around. It has been a challenge being so independant but i think i am managing ok, you are the reason i work so hard and my love for your and the family has grown so much while i have been here. I try to include a lot of thing in my prayers but you always are in my heart when i pray, try not to worry about me. I am doing just fine and love it here in Mexico city. I love you with all my heart and cant wait to see you again.
Marcus, hey bud. i miss you a bunch and hanging out with my district reminds me of you. The guys in my district are all very funny guys. I wish you the best in your new job. There is always an adjustment when doing new things but i know you will be able to do it. You are a smart guy and you can do anything you set your mind to. be sure to pull out team Equadavin once in a whille when you play worms. i dont want DavDav or Chuckles getting bored. I love you so much and know you will be sucessful.
Chelsey, I miss you a bunch! getting to see you and going through the temple with you was a huge blessing to me as a missonary. Your faith and spirity have helped me here at the MTC. I now have an idea of what those first few days in Texas must have been like. It is hard being a missonary but they never said life was easy. I am trying to work as hard as you do and your exsample while in nursing school has helped me to work hard. I love you and hope to see you and Travis soon. Tell Travis i said hi and i wish him luck with all of his residency. I hope the Rosetta stone worked well. I love you both
Grandma Wallace I miss you a whole lot, you have been a good exsample of faith to me. Keep my mom busy and dont let her get too stressed, i know she works hard and needs the support. Love you
Papa and Grandma Myler I love you guys so much and i am super apreciative for all your support for me and my descision to go on a mission. I am here because of that support and i dont forget what allows me to stay and preach the gosple
Dejon. Hey buddy, spread the word to everyone that i say HI. I dont get much time to write emails so i probably wont be able to talk to everyone all the time. My new friends are awsome but they dont compare to our friendship, cant wait to bug the heck out of you when i get back
Jetter. HI jetter i hope Your not missing me too much. be sure and not spend all day sleeping. You were a good dog and i miss you too
Tons of love to everyone back home.
Your Missonary Davin.
P.S. I just got word that i have a package so i think my scriptures have arrived. Thanks you so much, i hope it was not to much of a hassle
There you have it! He is loving his time in the MTC and picking up the Spanish!

Thank you for reading and supporting Elder Myler!
With love,
Chelsey

Day One 09/25/13

I'm Chelsey Boud, Elder Myler's sister. My mom has asked me to maintain a blog for Elder Myler so that everyone might be able to learn more about his mission! He left for the Mexico City Missionary Training Center (MTC) on September 25, 2013. He will spend 6 weeks in the MTC and then will head to Guayaquil, Ecuador!

Here is his first email:

I have met a lot of missonaries allready and i am ready to start my training. love you so much and miss you, will be thinkng of you tonight. Tell marcus and dad that i miss them too and love them, you guys dont need to worry about me, I am in good hands here. I will be sure to write as often as possible.

Love you guys a bunch cant wait to see you all again and be sure to give me adress of my firends and to give them my adress and email
Love Davin
I'm not going to correct the spelling errors because I think it adds character to his letters! Elder Myler did in fact leave his scriptures at home (oops!). My mom was able to ship them to Mexico City.

We are fairly certain this is his mailing address:
Elder Davin M. Myler
Carretera Tenayuca-Chalmita #828
Col. Zona Escolar
Gustovo A. Madero C.P. 07230
Well, that is all I have for now. Thanks for reading!
