Week Five: Headed to Ecuador

Hello Everyone!

This is a very exciting week for Elder Myler. He is heading to Ecuador late Thursday (10/31/13) night! We are so excited for him. Also, his birthday is this week! So if you want to tell him Happy Birthday go ahead and send him an email! davin.myler@myldsmail.net --His birthday is Saturday (11/2/13) and he will be the big 2-0! 20!

To Mom:
It is great to her fom you mom! its nice to get updates every week. It has been kind of crazy here at the MTC I just learned about the change to my departue yesterday, i will try my best to get that package and save you guys the stress, i dobt they leave package sitting at the mail office, they will either forward it to me in Ecuador or send it back. I hope i can just get it tomorrow but who knows. I also dont know much about my trip to ecuador, I think we leave the MTC thursday night and fly to Ecuador in the early morning so if ther is a chance for a phone call it will be late at night or early in the morning. I am pretty sure i will be useing this same e mail for the entire mission but i will keep you all updated. you will be happy to hear that there are rumors we may get to Skype for the holidays so thats exciting. My testimony has grown a lot in this short month and it will continue to grow in the comeing months, i hope your is as well, i want to bless as many people through the gosple as i can and that includes you mom! Pray as much as you can (even pray for the package because i am!) and i know God will bless you. I love you so much and miss you a lot
Love Elder Myler (Your baby)

To Dad:
Its good to hear everything is going good. I just learned yester day that i actually leave late thursday night. so i lost a couple of days here but it just means i will be in Ecuador soon. I hope you guys dont need to re re send the package because i leave early. I dont know what the CCM will do if they receive a package of an elder who has allready left but i will try and find out. This new departure time also means i know almost nothing about my trip, I have been told we leave thursday night at 10:00 and the plane leaves at 1:00 so if there is a phone call it will be early in the morning. Its good to hear marcus and mom are getting along. I bet the house is pretty interesting with all the haunted house stuff. Its good that the priest use PMG it will be a huge benifit to them. Its good to hear your missonary work is going so well also, Its great to hear you have been able to share part of the gosple with you co workers. Keep up the good work Dad i am so proud of you exsample, and i am proud to be your son. Thanks for the update and hopefully i will be that package soon, the next time you hear from me will be in Ecuador and i am so excited! I love you so much and miss you a lot

To Chelsey:
yes Utchdorf never dissapoints and neither do you! I Think doubt is one of the biggest thiongs to overcome for a missionary. My district had an interesting exsperince this week. There is a class here called TRC where voulenteers (members and non memebers) get taught by the missonaries, two non member voulunteers came to our room by mistake and we got to teach them the fist lession. They asked some very interesting and difficult questions, i bore my testimony that even though i dont know why God dose the things he dose I know he is perfect and that i should never doubt a perfect being. You are right about my testimony of the gosple growing and i will stop my spiritual growth, i bet you would have been a great missonary the sistes in my district remind me of you, but the lord did bless you because of your faith and he still exspects you to share the gosple. It is easy for me to share the gosple because i am devoting my life to it. Members who are not full time missonraies have their own challenges to over come. Never forget Every member a missonary! I know you will be very busy now because of your new job but dont forget to share the gosple with anyone who will hear it. Let me know what you think of your new job and try to have one missonary exsperience to share with me this time next month! I will be in Ecuador very soon (i actually leave this thursday) so I will have plenty to share with you. I love you and Travis a lot and have found a ton of spiritual strengh in your emails to me
Your Brother and Missonary Elder Myler

To Myler Grandparents (Fred & Brenda):
thanks for the story! it is crazy how fast my time has gone by at the mtc. we leave a litte earlier than we exspected so i will be leaving thursday night. I dont know if my package will be in on time but i hope it gets here soon. family is such an important part of the gosple and i love my family more than ever now. it is the same love i will be developing for my investigators. I love you both so much and thank you for the support you give me, you have made my mission possible and i will never be able to repay you for that. so thank you so much, send my love to everyone in flagstaff
Love Elder Myler

Also, Elder Myler sent some very exciting pictures this week! Please check them out in my previous blog post. Thanks for supporting Elder Myler!!

Week Four: CCM Veteran

Hello Everyone!

Elder Myler is definitely making progress as he has been out for a month! Wow! Time flies when you are busy. Take a look at what has been going on this week for Elder Myler.

ANNOUNCEMENT from Elder Myler!!!
hey i found out there is a blog fom my mission www.guayaquilwestmission.blogspot.com.)be sure to check it after in early November and you will probably find me there!and add the adress to the blog so everyone can see it

To Mom:
Its so good to hear from you sounds like you and I will be plenty busy but thats ok time flys when we work hard. we had one of the elders in our district go home because he was só sick, it was very difficult for all of us to send him home and it helped me appreciate my opportunity to serve. My spanish is getting better but there is a lot to lern, there are irregular verbs that just break all the rules of spanish so things are very confusing sometimes. we also are getting into the past and future tense of words and that is pretty hard to. I know I will be ok in the end but things are very hard. My strengh in the golsple is also getting better, my faith is strongetr than it has ever been and it is great to see Gods hand in my life, try and find ways God has blessed your life too and i know you will develope a greater testimony of his love for you. CCM life is staring to feel like school so i  cant wait to be out in the feild, I only get another 23 months of this wonderful life style so i will be chershing every second of it. The Elder whose companion went home has become my new companion and he remindes me of marcus, he is very funny and kind of crazy sometimes. We are all donig well here and love it here, our district checks the mail like three times a day and it is always a laught when they find our mail box empty. The cafiteria food is pretty good and they have started serving more amerian style food, it is a blessing and a curse because i was hopeing to get use to different types of food before my time in the feild, the guys in my district going to Ecuador call the CCM a resort because it is so nice compared to what it will be like in Ecuador. One of the sister in our Distict has family in Ecuador and here parents are form there so we get to hear a bunch of stories about it. She tells us the people are very friendly and the members are generious to the missonaries so i will  be in good hands. we have Two teachers now, one in the morning and one in the after noon. Our afternoon teacher is super cool his name is Hermano Arevalo, he is from mexico and is trying to learn English, so we get to help him with engligh while he helps us with spanish. He call us all Gurreros wich is Warrior is spanish, so that is pretty cool. When we are taugh a new grammar rule or phrase he taker us out onto the campus to practice with some of the local workers at the CCM, they are always nice to us but i have trouble understanding them. We all have a good time learning. The house we lived in use to be pretty empty but now all of the new missonaries have filled up the house. It is crazy to think i am a veteran here now. it feels like almost no time has gone by. I gave a talk this last sunday in spanglish it was only five minuits but it felt like forever. I am learning so much here and am excited to begin the work of the Lord. I hope you and marcus are getting along as Halloween closes in. Dad told me he is still getting paied so thats good. I miss you all (including Jetter) and always keep you in my prayers, thank you so much for keeping me in your prayers too, i can feel your love for me everyday and that helps me get though the days. Mom i miss you a ton but i know these two years will feel like the blink of an eye when i get back. cant wait to see you all.
Love your Missonary Elder Myler

To Dad:
It good to hear Congress actuall did something for once and i am happy to hear everything is going so well. I hope mom and Marcus have been getting along. Speaking in spanish gets tougher everyday, i can do ok in a gosple lesson but besides that its is very tough, there are so many rules and form to memorize that it feel like i need to memorize half the language. but i learn something everyday and I have no dobt I will be able to master the language soon.

As for the priest's question i could go on for days about things they could and should know to prepare for their mission. But i think i can summarise it into one Gosple principle and that is the Holy Ghost. Missonaries are nothing with out the testimony of the Holy Ghost and no one would be converted without the help of the Holy Ghost. the HG is the only reason i have felt any sort of sucess and it is the best tool in a missonary's life for conversion. So if a priest wants to be better perpared for his mission he should live in a way that invites the HG into his life. If he dose not do that he will have to learn that life style while on his mission and that wont be easy. No body should exspect their life to do a complete 180 degree turn over night, life dose not work that way. So tell the priest to keep the HG in their lives and follow the promptings of the HG. Try and find a conference talk or MTC devotal on the subject (MTC devotnals are super good espeshally if Elder Holland is taking ) Doing this early will be a huge blessing in their lives.

I so glad to hear everything is going so well, time here is all staring to belnd to gether so i am excited to be in the feild. I love you all so very much and keep you in my prayers.
Love ELder Myler

To Chelsey:
Muchas gracias hermana! Me gusta mi tiempo en la CCM, me espanol es mas o meso pero yo tengo muy muy oportunidad por pratice. My spanish is still pretty rough, i now how to say a lot of things about the gosple in spanish but besides that my vocab and grammar is a little lacking. But thats ok i have plenty of time to improve. The biggest thing i have lerned at the CCM is that I must become my first convert. we watched a Tuesday night devotonal from Elder Holland and he said that if i want an investigator to do someting like pray more of read the scriptures more God wants me to do those things. So i am learning how to convert myself before i convert others. It has been wonderful putting all my trust into the Lord and seeing his hand in my life. I never knew how much the Lord blessed my life untill i got here. I am trying to learn as much as i have gotten use to CCM life and it is starting to feel a bit like school. I will try and make everyday unique but it is hard when i am on a tight schedule. Hope things are going well in Texas, i read you have started your new job so good luck with that. I know you will do great. Say hi to travis for me.
Love ELder Myler

So per usual, Elder Myler is doing awesome and that is what we like to hear! We love him and are just so happy that he is serving a mission for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Week Three: Spanish

Hello Everyone!

This week Elder Myler finally got to send us some pictures! The pictures are rather random but that's Davin for you. He mentions speaking exclusively in Spanish this week! We also found out he will leave for Ecuador on his birthday, Nov. 2! What a birthday present. :) We are so thrilled for him!

To Mom:
its sound like you guys are doing ok without me so to answer your questions
1. my back is fine, i have had no trouble so far i think there is something up with my bed at home
2. My bed is fine, we actually have sheets provided at the MTC so i wont be useing the sheet untill i get in the feild
3. laundry is easy not much to it, the iorns at the MTC are not all that good so i have been hanging up shirts right out of the dryer but besides that not problems
4. Yes mom i am keeping my area tidy. we dont have a ton of room to begin with so it would be difficult to be messy with four other guys in the room.

I know you and marcus dont always agree but take some comfort in knowing that you love each other, your personalities are very strong and dont always mix well.
I just sent some pictiures to chelsey and will try and send more soon but i dont have much time to take pictures
I am happy jetter is ok, i know he will be just fine its good he is acutally chaseing cats now. I hope the package arrives a little early......My departure to Ecuador is on my birthday. so hopefully that all works out ok. I love you so much and i am happy to hear that everyone is doing allrigt.
Love Elder Myler
Leave it to Davin to be candid and straight to the point. Got to love the boy.

To Dad:
Hi dad. I am doing great, my spanish is imporving (we will be speaking only spanish tomorrow) I have replied to all my emails so far so dont worry about that. I have plenty of time on p-day to email. To answer your question about PMG yes yes and yes! i use PMG everyday and would be lost with out it. It is so helpful for me as a missonary and for an investigator (our teachers play investigators and we teach them every week) it would be 100 times more difficult if i didnt have PMG. That book may not look like much from an outsiders perspective, but for missonaries it is gold. It is a great tool for me and every missonary.  Have the priests teach lessons in quorm useing PMG. There are plenty of things they could use for a lesson.

Hope everything is going ok at home sounds like you have your hands full keeping the peace between Mom and Marcus. I just sent pictures to chelsey so be sure to check the blog for some picts. I hope everything works out at work, i know Congress will eventuall make a budget and everything will be ok. I love you and miss you a lot.
Your Missonary Elder Myler
PMG is short for Preach My Gospel. It is a guideline for the missionaries to use in order to teach investigators about the Church. From what I understand, the missionaries utilize this book a lot!

To Marcus (brother):
HI Marcus, it is great to hear from you! sounds like things are going allright, i can tell you form exsperience that work isnt that much fun some of the times but you will get use to it (but paychecks help too) try to not get caught up in the stress of work and it will all work out. work hard in school no matter how silly it may seem now. i know your getting good grades so keep up your hard work, just remember doing boring classes now will leave room for the cool stuff when your at a university. I am so stoked your doing a haunted house! keep me updated on your progress becuase it sounds like it will be super cool. say hi to jetter for me, i miss being upstairs and i miss my two favorite brothers(you and jetter).  sound like you are pretty busy so i wouldnt worry about the viedogames too much, just dont stay up too late playing league. let me know how the youtube channel is comeing along. I love you a lot and miss you a ton.
Love Elder Myler

To Chelsey:
Hi chelsey! so i some pictures to send and i think i will just send them (so i dont spend too much time uploading and sending pictures) so hopefully they can go on the blog for everyone to see. Our emails can only have so much attached to them so it will probably only be one or two pictures per email. I am excited that you are giving a talk and would love too see it. I love what you said about the priesthood and it being correct because it comes from God. The sister missonaries in my dirstrict remind me of you because they are so hardworking and know so much about the gosple.

To Myler Grandparents (Fred & Brenda):
Hi, thanks for the email. it is great to hear from you guys. Here at the MTC we got to watch the confrence in a auditorium. it was super cool and i got a lot out of it. There is a little viedo of the Mexico MTC in the october 2013 world report (it plays after confrence) try and look it up so you can see what the MTC looks like. Tell Katerina thank you for the words of encouragement and that i love her. It cool that LeRoy won that car show. I miss you guys a lot. I love you both so much and cant thank you enough for your support. I am here because of you guys and I am very thankful for that. i love you guys so much.
Love Elder Myler

Thank you for the update I am sure i will be taken care of in Ecuador. I hope i can have the same impact on families when i am out in the feild. I cant wait to go out into the feild. I will be think of you guys a lot.
Love Elder Myler

Woo hoo! Another week in the MTC. Only 3 weeks left til the Elder leaves for Ecuador! Then, it's go time.

Thanks for reading!

Week 3: Pictures!

This is Elder Myler and his companion, Elder Walker!

Davin did not provide any explanations along with the pictures he sent me but I feel like the sprinklers were turned on in this picture. Not completely sure but it looks like they are having fun!

The beautiful Mexico City LDS Temple!

Again, not completely sure. Looks like a bunch of Elders hanging out on their Preparation Day. Preparation Day (or sometimes referred to as P Day) is the one day of the week when the missionaries get to enjoy free time, write home to family, take care of laundry and personal chores, etc. Not sure Elder Myler is featured in this pic!

I added in the designs. I thought they added to the pictures. :)

Thanks for supporting Elder Myler!

Week Two: General Conference

This week Elder Myler had enough time to email individuals. I will be posting the responses he gave to people. Elder Myler's responses may be slightly out of context since I will not be posting what individuals wrote to him. Hope you enjoy!

To Mom:
Hi mom, it is great to hear from you and everyone in the family. I am so happy to hear that you are doing well and that you have me in your heart. sond like things are busy at home, I hope marcus is doing ok. I know he dosent share much with you so help him as much as you can. I am excited for the haunted house! i havent been able to see the blog just yet but will try to get to computers that can do that. I cant believe the altima was in a wreck, i know marcus is fine but thats still a bit of a bummer. I hope he is doing well at his new job. In fact i hope you all are doing well at your jobs, i know it's not fun and can be a little stressful but dont worry to much about it, I can see the Lord's hand in your lives and i know he will take care of you guys while i am away. I am happy that you got to see the CCM (Capacion Central de Misionaros) it not spelled correctly here but that what we call it. Dont work too hard mom, we both have a lot to do in the next two years and we cant get caught up in the moment. I work hard and stay focoused on what i need to do and try not to think about how much i miss home (it is very hard sometmes) and i hope you can do the same. let Jetter know i love him and miss him too. I had tons of emails today so dont worry about saying i to anyone, and i am planning on writing a letter today too. Mom i love you so much and that love is hard to set aside for any amount of time. But i am doing what is right and will be blessing the lives of so many people, it is hard but get easier do accept my call every day. Two year will be the blink of an eye soon and it wont be too long untill i see you again. I love you and keep you in all my prayers.
Your Missonary Elder Myler

**Marcus was in a car accident. He was rear ended. He is fine and the other driver is fine. The car just needs a lot of work done.

To Dad:
Haha i was hoping you would see Valenzuela's talk, the guy in the picture probably wasnt me but mom dosent ned to know that. there is a little clip of the MTC in Mexico on the world report (It plays after confrence) you might be able to find it on the web somwhere. I love it here at the MTC it is a great place to be and i am learning a lot about the language and the gosple. It has been a little tough adjusting to life here but i am getting use to the schedule. I havent been to somesick so thats good, they keep us very busy. Thats awsome that you help stop that robber and i wish i could have helped with the winter grass. I miss everyone a lot and love you all so much. Time is flying by at the MTC so i will be home in no time. I did get my scriptues and the treats, thank mom for me. I took me a while to get them but i did. I love you all so much and am beginning to love my time here in the mission. I miss you all alot and love you all even more.
Your missonary Elder Myler

To Chelsey:
Haha, that picture defidently wasnt me, but mom dosent need to know that. I was blessed to be able to hear confrence in english and it was awsome. we were in the auditorium so it was on a huge screen and we had great seats. I took notes on almost every talk and loved all ten hours of confrence! I hope you and travis are doing well, i got an email form travis and it had a lot of good advice in it. I am thankful you keep me in your prayers. I know you are gonna do great at you new job and that the Lord will keep you all safe and sucessful so i can focous on my mission. i love you a lot and thank you for being a great exsample of what a true child of God should be. You have helped me so much in life it would take a very long time to fully thank you.
Love Elder Myler

To G-Ma (Grandma Wallace):
Hi G-ma thank you for the email. i am so happy that you are doing well and that you are helping my mom. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. Mexico city is super cool and i am having a great time. I got a little home sick now and them but for the most part i am pretty focoused. Learning spanish has been one of the hardest things i have done so far in life, but i learn somthing everyday. i miss you a lot and cant wait to see you again say hi to everyone for me and tell them i love them
love Elder Myler

To Travis (brother-in-law):
Thank you for the email Travis, one of our devotionals last week was on faith and that you dont look back on the past if you have faith. I have cried a little every time i read an email from home, and i have tear in my eyes now. But it is not because i miss home, it is because i can feel the spirit, you advice is great and i will keep it with me while i am on the Lord's mission. Thanks a ton for the email and i cant wait to hear from you again. Keep up the good work in you residency. You and Chelsey are hard workers and i know you guys will do great in your careers. I love you both so much
Elder Myler

Wow, seems like Elder Myler is doing great! We sure do love hearing from him each week. If you get a response from Davin and would like for it to show up on the blog, please email chelseyboud@hotmail.com.

Thanks for your support!

Week One: Life in the MTC

We found out that Elder Myler's preparation days will be on Tuesdays. Anyone who wants to email Elder Myler, I recommend doing so by Monday night because the only day he gets to read his email is on Tuesdays. His email is davin.myler@myldsmail.net

He mentions getting "word" that he received a package. He did not directly say that has been given the package yet. Hopefully they gave him the package on P day because his scriptures are in there! He NEEDS those!

Here is his letter:

Hi family! The MTC here in mexico is super cool. The weather here is just like flagstaff so it is always super nice. my companion Elder Walker arrived shortly after i did on the first day and we have been super busy. My schedule is just a lot of language classes and personal time. we do a lot of the learning on our own here but our teacher is a good teacher. we taught a mock investigator (played by a member) in spanish on our first day! our classes are arranged by district so i spend a lot of time with my district (eight elders and two sisters). We have bonded a ton in the short time we have been here. the MTC is a huge campus with classroom buildings a full auditorium a gym and even a some basket ball courts. The MTC is in the middle of Mexico City and has walls surroinding the campus. We start our day at 6:30 and end at 10:30 so everyday is fairly long. the exspression here is a day feels like a week and a week feels like a day. today (Tuesday) is our first prep day so exspect mail on tuesdays. My spaish a pretty much tripled so far and i still have so much to learn. So far i can say basic prayers in spanish put not much else. the house i live in have about 15 other elders in it. There are four people to a room and each room has a shower. It feels a little cramped but its not to bad. The food is ok as well, lots of mexican stuff but nothings has been bad yet so that keeps me thankful. My companion is from Washington and is super cool, he knows more spanish than i do and he helps me all the time. Everyone in my district is super cool and it would take forever to talk about them all. I miss you guys a lot but i stay focused and on track. I love you all so much and look forward to seeing you all again soon. We also got to go to the Mexico city Temple today for an endowment session. It was all in spanish but i kind of knew what was going on so it was ok. The MTC president told us the first five days are the hardest so i think i will be able to manage while in here. we dont get a ton of time to write letters, so exspect more email than letters. tell everyone i am doing ok and even forward the email if you want to. P day is also our only day to take pictues and we hear rumors people use a site called drop box to send pirctures so i will try and send some pitctures your guy's way.
Dad, i am so thankful for how awsome of a dad you are. You have been a great exsample to me as i have been growing up and I hope to be like you during my time as a missonary. I tried to exsplain your job as a probation officer to my teacher but it confused her, i love you so much and wish we could talk more
Mom, i love you so much, you are the person i miss the most. I try and control how homesick i get when i think about you, but i am so busy it is hard to mope around. It has been a challenge being so independant but i think i am managing ok, you are the reason i work so hard and my love for your and the family has grown so much while i have been here. I try to include a lot of thing in my prayers but you always are in my heart when i pray, try not to worry about me. I am doing just fine and love it here in Mexico city. I love you with all my heart and cant wait to see you again.
Marcus, hey bud. i miss you a bunch and hanging out with my district reminds me of you. The guys in my district are all very funny guys. I wish you the best in your new job. There is always an adjustment when doing new things but i know you will be able to do it. You are a smart guy and you can do anything you set your mind to. be sure to pull out team Equadavin once in a whille when you play worms. i dont want DavDav or Chuckles getting bored. I love you so much and know you will be sucessful.
Chelsey, I miss you a bunch! getting to see you and going through the temple with you was a huge blessing to me as a missonary. Your faith and spirity have helped me here at the MTC. I now have an idea of what those first few days in Texas must have been like. It is hard being a missonary but they never said life was easy. I am trying to work as hard as you do and your exsample while in nursing school has helped me to work hard. I love you and hope to see you and Travis soon. Tell Travis i said hi and i wish him luck with all of his residency. I hope the Rosetta stone worked well. I love you both
Grandma Wallace I miss you a whole lot, you have been a good exsample of faith to me. Keep my mom busy and dont let her get too stressed, i know she works hard and needs the support. Love you
Papa and Grandma Myler I love you guys so much and i am super apreciative for all your support for me and my descision to go on a mission. I am here because of that support and i dont forget what allows me to stay and preach the gosple
Dejon. Hey buddy, spread the word to everyone that i say HI. I dont get much time to write emails so i probably wont be able to talk to everyone all the time. My new friends are awsome but they dont compare to our friendship, cant wait to bug the heck out of you when i get back
Jetter. HI jetter i hope Your not missing me too much. be sure and not spend all day sleeping. You were a good dog and i miss you too
Tons of love to everyone back home.
Your Missonary Davin.
P.S. I just got word that i have a package so i think my scriptures have arrived. Thanks you so much, i hope it was not to much of a hassle
There you have it! He is loving his time in the MTC and picking up the Spanish!

Thank you for reading and supporting Elder Myler!
With love,
Chelsey
